Persimmon-Ginger Tea for Calming Acid Reflux
Everyday I teach my patients new things about health and wellness and sometimes it’s the other way around. This came to me from a patient who swore by this tea to help her acid reflux. Here is her recipe:
- 8 cups water
- 4 cinnamon sticks
- 1 heaping cup of chopped peeled ginger
- 1 1/2 cups chopped dried persimmons
Bring these to a boil together and simmer for between 30-45 minutes. Let the mixture cool and with all the ingredients still in it, store it in glass containers. Then run it through a strainer glass-by-glass before drinking. Dilute 8oz. of the tea with about 4 oz. of water and drink it either hot, room temperature or over ice twice a day. It’s also quite good warm with a little bit of honey. The above quantity lasts about 3-4 days.
You can buy conventionally grown dried persimmons here. Or, if you prefer organic, buy them from Sun Organics.
