Cultivating Nourishment through Acupuncture & Chinese Herbal Therapy
Styles of Massage Therapy Offered at Nourishing Medicine:
Tui Na Massage
A traditional Chinese healing system integrating acupressure and massage therapy. Excellent for chronic or acute musculoskeletal disorders like low back pain, TMJ syndrome, headaches, and carpal tunnel syndrome. Helps to relieve the side effects of chemotherapy and radiation. Patient remains fully clothed.
Thai Massage
An ancient therapy from Thailand. Often called “the lazy person’s yoga”, a session is like someone doing yoga for you. Stretching is combined with deep pressure in patterns of gentle rocking and rhythmic compressions. This massage is very slow and meditative both for the client as well as the practitioner. Patient is fully clothed on a comfortable floor mat.
Swedish Massage
The most common type of massage. The practitioner uses long flowing strokes with oil to promote relaxation, increase circulation, and improve mobility. The patient undresses in private and is modestly draped with sheets.
Hot Stone Therapy
Hand sized smooth beach stones are heated in water and then safely placed on the body. Using oil, the practitioner then glides the hot stones over tight muscles, melting them like chocolate. An extremely deep state of relaxation is achieved through heat and the stone’s own healing properties. Patient undresses in privacy and is draped modestly with a sheet.
